Hi I am Alf and I am now semi-retired.

In the prime of my life I was a farmer but now as age catches up on me, I enjoy this modern age of computers and especially WordPress.

I have 3 children and so far 7 grandchildren – so I have “left my mark” as it were.

My dear wife of Fifty Two years (Elsie May) is my favourite cook (or chef as some might say).

When we were young – life was very different

I can remember when we hopped into a buggy on Sundays to go for a drive. We collected logs and old trees from paddocks, chopped wood and it took ages to light fires (especially when the wood got wet).

We had no magic fire-starters like my children do, yet we did have matches – RedHeads was the brand Name – with this striking (pardon the pun) redheaded girl on the box. These matches were reliable and we used the occasion to burn the local newspapers (mind you we did always remove “the comics” first).

Depending on how well we “set the fire” it might either roar into a warming crackling fire or else a “smoking slow failure”.

We even had a competition to see who could light the best fire as my sisters and brother took it in turn to light during the week. Mum was the weekly judge and Dad showed us all how to light a fire on the weekends.

You might be wondering why I am telling you this story?

This story about the fire during my youth is so important. Why?

Because if ever you have light a fire you will know about “Carbon”.
Perhaps you have a Gas or Oil fire to warm your house – if you do then it is my bet “you really do not understand the point I am trying to make about Carbon”.

That pungent odour with its BLACK SMOKE – is CARBON or as we called it “soot”.

So much has happened since those days.

We have all become so much better educated about Carbon and the effects it has on our planet.

For example, I did know that trees were very important in the Carbon and Oxygen cycle yet I was totally unaware that the “biggest carbon soak” was actually the Oceans of waters that we have separating the various 6 Continents of this our world which we call “Earth”.

Now I was only able to go to school and complete my Year 7 Primary School (back in those days education was limited) so my abilities as a student leave much to be desired, however, I do know education is so very important.

I also know that the future of this world relies on the present and future generations.
Sadly my generation seems to have abused its role as caretaker of the world for future generations.

Our greedy drinking of resources of things like “oil” and caused many more pollution problems than might be the case if we were more aware.

Still we must all learn from the mistakes of the past and move forward as more diligent caretakers.

I need to know that I have done my little bit – hence my efforts to start this WebSite CarbonCredits.org

If all I can do at my age and remaining years is to provide a vehicle for discussion and education, then that is better than doing nothing at all.

So what of the future?

It is my earnest hope that schools will have their student study the effects of pollution and Carbon issues. That those students will go home and talk to their parents and brothers and sisters about the important role of Carbon Credits. Then that as a family they educate their neighbours children and parents.

If all of the above can come as a result of this WebSite then I will be happy … but I need your help and contributions … please write some articles and help me make this site interesting and educational.

Many thanks

Alf (and Elsie May)
